J.Crew was criticized Tuesday after the retailer announced it is now selling clothing items in size 000. The triple zero size is equivalent to an American XXXS, which has fashion bloggers from Racked and Capital Hill Style up in arms. “I won’t support J.Crew’s decision to expand their sizing downward because it feeds into the notion that clothing size is a scarlet letter,” Capitol Hill Style wrote. A J.Crew spokeswoman responded to critics by noting the new tag has nothing to do with vanity sizing, but rather the high demand for smaller sizes in the retailer’s Asian markets.
