Pounds of Cocaine Hidden in Cakes Seized at JFK

Customs officials seized two pounds of cocaine concealed in hollowed-out cakes from a Mexican citizen as he passed through security at John F. Kennedy airport, authorities said.

The cocaine was discovered by Customs and Border Protection agents when the man’s luggage was x-rayed on March 1.

The agents escorted the man to the private search room where they discovered the tightly-packed cocaine packages inside the cakes. The cocaine has a street value of about $33,000.

The suspect was arrested and will face narcotics smuggling charges, authorities said.
