SantaCon to Be Held in Williamsburg for Second Straight Year

SantaCon, the pub crawl that sees thousands of jolly revelers descending on bars each December, is returning to Williamsburg this year.

This year's event will be held on Dec. 10 and marks the second-straight year that the bar crawl has been staged in the north Brooklyn neighborhood.

Last year's event kicked off in McCarren Park, and several bars and nightclubs on the neighborhood's north side participated in the event. The route for this year's event hasn't been announced -- typically organizers don't name the bars participating in the event until the night before.

Neighborhood organizations and business owners have derided the popular pub crawl, and the pushback in some neighborhoods forced organizers to move the event. The region's commuter rail lines also banned alcohol on trains on the day SantaCon has been held in recent years.

At last year's event, five people were arrested and more than 100 red-suited participants were issued summonses, the Daily News reports.
